The whistle is placed flat against your lips, like you are going to kiss the whistle, then you simply blow air through the hole. Depending on how hard you blow is how loud the sound is. Just cup your hand and open and close to change the sound . Usualy start with very loud squeals and then taper them off to a very faint cry.
